Laura Lewis is an Assistant Professor of German in the School of Modern Languages and Cultures at Durham University. She holds a BA in English and German, and a Bi-National MA in German as a Foreign Language from Leipzig University and the University of Stellenbosch. Her research focuses on cultural studies in language education, postcolonial theory, and innovative teaching methodologies such as using literature and student-produced podcasts in language learning. Education: BA in English and German (Leipzig University/University of Stellenbosch) Bi-National MA in German as a Foreign Language (Leipzig/Stellenbosch) Her recent publication in Enhancing Teaching and Learning in Higher Education (2024) explores sustainable assessment methods using portfolio-based tasks. Beyond academia, she serves as an assessment author and external examiner for the International Baccalaureate since 2018. As Outreach Officer for German at Durham, she actively promotes German language and culture within and beyond the university.
