Perry Christensen serves as Associate Professor in the Department of English within the Faculty of Education & Social Work at Brigham Young University–Hawaii. His dual affiliation extends to Religious Education, where he teaches sheltered Religion classes for EIL students. With over three decades of institutional connection since 1988, he has progressed from student to educator while contributing significantly to TESOL and EIL programs. His educational background includes an EdD from California Coast University (2001), MBA from Hawaii Pacific University (1994), and BA in Russian with Hebrew minor from University of Utah (1989). Additional training encompasses biblical Hebrew studies, Tongan language courses, and specialized institutes in second language acquisition. Christensen's research centers on TESOL pedagogy, with emphasis on educational technology integration , language assessment methodologies , and cross-cultural language experiences . His work explores practical applications like LMS sandboxes for teacher training, virtual language exchanges, and the parallels between musical skill acquisition and language learning. Recent publications analyze pandemic-era adaptations in language education and global conference trends. Professional recognition includes Faculty Recognition Stipends for 2010-2011 and 2014-2015.
