Thalia Wheatley is a Professor of Psychological and Brain Sciences and Director of the Center for Social Brain Sciences at Dartmouth College. She serves on the Santa Fe Institute's Science Board as an External Professor. Her research explores collective creation of ideas and emotions, mind coupling mechanisms, and their impact on neural and social network stability through methods like neuroimaging, natural language processing, and social network analysis. Director, Center for Social Brain Sciences External Professor, Santa Fe Institute Science Board Research Interests encompass Social Neuroscience , Collective Cognition , and Neural Network Dynamics . Current work examines: How minds couple through social interactions Neural mechanisms of social resonance Cross-cultural behavioral patterns Temporal dynamics in conversational synchronization White matter connectivity in social cognition Publications demonstrate multidisciplinary approaches connecting neuroscience, psychology, and network science, particularly focusing on social alignment, emotional perception, and interactive cognition. Scientific Contributions include: Advancing understanding of social brain networks Developing frameworks for interpersonal neural coupling Investigating rhythmic synchrony in social interactions Exploring emotion perception across cultures Studying social network dynamics through neuroimaging As Director of Graduate Studies, she shapes academic programs while maintaining an active research agenda in cognitive and social neuroscience.
