Jia-Chun Lin is an Associate Professor in the Department of Information Security and Communication Technology at NTNU. She previously held positions as an Assistant Professor at NTNU (2019–2022) and as a postdoctoral researcher at the University of Oslo (2015–2019). Originally from Taiwan, she earned her Ph.D. from National Chiao Tung University (2015) and her master’s from Tunghai University (2005). She has been a visiting scientist at UC Berkeley, Karlsruhe Institute of Technology, and the University of Göttingen (2007, 2013, 2014). Her research focuses on cybersecurity, privacy, anomaly detection, AI/ML, cyber-physical systems, and cloud computing. She leads Work Package 3 of the NORCICS project and the DC12 project within TUAI, a European HORIZON MSCA Doctoral Network. She is affiliated with the Critical Infrastructure Security and Resilience Group (CISaR) and the e-Health and Welfare Security (e-HWS) research group at NTNU. She has received notable awards, including the 2022 Education Award from NTNU’s IIK department and the 2019 University Lecturer Qualification Scholarship. She supervises numerous Ph.D., master’s, and bachelor’s students, having guided over 15 master’s and 60 bachelor’s students to date. Professionally, she serves as Publicity Chair for the International Conference on Internet of Things, Big Data, and Security (IoTBDS), Co-chair of CWEURP 2024, and on program committees for conferences like DSAA 2023, COMPSAC 2023–2024, and DBSec 2025. She is an active reviewer for journals including IEEE TPDS, IEEE IoT Journal, and The Journal of Supercomputing. Administratively, she oversees expert committees for academic positions and examines student projects across all levels. Her work bridges academia and critical infrastructure security, emphasizing practical applications of AI and cybersecurity in real-world systems.
