Cibrán Tenreiro Uzal is an Assistant Professor at the University of Santiago de Compostela, affiliated with the Department of Communication Sciences within the Faculty of Communication Sciences. He is also part of the Institute of Studies and Development of Galicia (IDEGA), focusing on Audiovisual Communication and Advertising. He earned his Doctorate in 2018 with a thesis titled A Cinema of the Fan: Fans and Amateur Recordings in the Modes of Representation of Live Music , supervised by Dr. Margarita Ledo Andión. His research interests center on fan culture, audiovisual documentation of music scenes, and Galician cultural identity. Key areas include amateur media production, underground music communities, and the intersection of technology with artistic expression. His work frequently explores how fans and communities document and preserve their cultural practices through self-produced media. Recent publications (2020–2025) analyze micro-independent record labels in Galicia, intimacy in Galician cinema, and the role of amateur concert videos in sustaining underground music scenes. His studies often combine ethnographic methods with critical cultural theory, emphasizing participatory practices and regional identity expression. While no formal awards or grants are listed, his academic contributions highlight innovative approaches to understanding community-driven media production and cultural preservation.
