Tapio Juntunen is a University Lecturer in the Security Studies department at Tampere University, affiliated with the Faculty of Management and Business. His research focuses on international security, nuclear disarmament, and Finnish foreign policy history. He holds a PhD (2024) from Tampere University, where his dissertation on Cold War Finnish nuclear diplomacy was awarded distinction. Juntunen has received the Raimo Väyrynen Dissertation Award (2025) and twice been honored as Teacher of the Year (2014, 2016). His work explores Nordic nuclear policies, NATO’s nuclear role, and historical security discourses. Key publications include analyses of Finland’s nuclear diplomacy, NATO’s evolving nuclear strategy, and comparative studies of Nordic nuclear deterrence narratives. Juntunen serves as Editor of Politiikka and actively contributes to policy briefs for the Finnish government and institutes.
