Anja Margrete Davis Norbye is an Associate Professor of Health Sciences at the Department of Health and Care Sciences, UiT The Arctic University of Norway, where she also serves as subject manager for the Master in Physiotherapy with a specialisation in Neurological Physiotherapy. Education 2022: PhD in Health Science, UiT The Arctic University of Norway – “Health anxiety as a continuous construct in the general population” 2016: MSc in Neurological Physiotherapy, UiT The Arctic University of Norway 2011: BSc in Physiotherapy, Sør-Trøndelag University College Research Interests Her research centres on health anxiety , epidemiology and public health , health-services research , and neurology & neurological physiotherapy . She investigates how health anxiety influences healthcare utilisation, its associations with non-communicable diseases and cardiovascular risk factors, and the epidemiological distribution of these phenomena in the general population. Additionally, she explores innovative digital-health approaches, including the use of continuous biometric sensor data to predict migraine and epileptic events. Research Output & Trends Across 15 recent publications (2016-2025), her work demonstrates a dual focus on population-level health anxiety and technology-driven neurological prediction . Studies repeatedly utilise large Norwegian cohorts (e.g., Tromsø Study, SAMINOR) to quantify the burden and determinants of health anxiety, while parallel projects develop machine-learning pipelines for predicting migraine and epileptic events from wearable sensor streams. Scientific Awards No specific awards were mentioned in the provided material. Teaching & Supervision She is responsible for three master-level courses in neurological physiotherapy and supervises master theses in the same field. She is a member of the research groups Public Health and Rehabilitation and Health Informatics and Technology (HIT) , and participates in the project Forecasting tipping point in human health .
