Barbara Bonelli is a Full Professor at Politecnico di Torino's Department of Applied Science and Technology (DISAT), actively engaged in research through the PolitoBIOMed Lab. She serves on editorial boards for ACS Sustainable Chemistry & Engineering, Nanomaterials, Catalysts, and Molecules, and participates in international conferences as program committee member. Her research focuses on CO2 reduction , photocatalysis for water treatment , and nanomaterials development for environmental applications. She leads projects including SCORE2 (Solar-driven CO2 Conversion) and GREEN UP (Nanomaterials for Photocatalytic Upconversion), aligning with UN SDGs 6 and 11. Her work integrates advanced spectroscopic techniques like VTIR for material characterization. Key awards include MIUR's National Qualification (2013) and ACS's Certificate of Appreciation (2013). She has supervised PhD students including Nicola Blangetti (2019-2023) and currently mentors Tanushree Sankar Sanyal and Tohid Nemati. Her teaching spans chemistry fundamentals for engineering students and specialized PhD courses in nanomaterial synthesis and spectroscopic methods.
