Jiaxuan You serves as an Assistant Professor in the Computer Science department at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign's Siebel School of Computing and Data Science. He actively contributes to the academic community through teaching and research in cutting-edge AI fields. His teaching portfolio includes foundational and specialized courses such as CS 512 - Data Mining Principles, CS 598 JY2 - Topics in LLM Agents, and CS 598 YOU - Deep Learning with Graphs, reflecting his expertise in both theoretical and applied aspects of artificial intelligence. Research interests span artificial intelligence with particular focus on model routing systems, large language models, graph neural networks, and artificial general intelligence. His work addresses critical challenges in AI scalability, efficiency, and the technical limitations of current model architectures. Professor You has emerged as a notable voice in the AI community, recently organizing an AGI workshop at a major AI research conference in Vienna as mentioned in an Associated Press article from April 2024. His insights on model routing systems were prominently featured in Fortune's August 2025 coverage of GPT-5's architecture, where he discussed the technical challenges and future potential of routing multiple AI models. As a member of the newly expanded faculty at the Siebel School of Computing and Data Science, Professor You contributes to the school's growing prominence in AI research and education, having joined as part of a significant faculty expansion that saw nearly 60 new professors join Grainger Engineering.
