Francesco GHERARDINI is an Associate Professor at the Department of Engineering 'Enzo Ferrari', University of Modena and Reggio Emilia. His research focuses on CAD-based design methods, sustainable manufacturing, additive manufacturing, and cultural heritage preservation. He teaches courses in integrated design, CAD laboratory, and vehicle engineering at both undergraduate and graduate levels. Research Interests: His work spans mechanical design, automotive systems optimization, composite materials, tolerance analysis, and digital heritage applications. He has led projects on 3D reconstruction of historical artifacts, AR-enhanced cultural tourism, and carbon footprint reduction in aerospace/automotive components. Recent Contributions: Recent work includes scalable living lab frameworks for autonomous vehicles (MASA project), design archetypes for mechanical transmissions, and co-design methodologies for assistive devices using AM. He actively collaborates with industries and museums, integrating CAD/CAE tools for real-world applications. Labs/Teams: Part of the LaPIS Lab (Laboratory for Product Innovation and Sustainable Design), focusing on interdisciplinary engineering solutions. Engaged in EU-funded initiatives and international conferences like Florence Heri-Tech and ADM.
