David W Melton

David W Melton is an Associate Dean at the Lumpkin College of Business & Technology and a Professor in the School of Technology at Eastern Illinois University. He serves as Graduate Coordinator for Technology programs and teaches courses in Computer-Aided Design and Manufacturing, Materials Testing, Project Management, and Total Quality Systems.

• Education: PhD in Curriculum and Instructional Development with an emphasis in Career Assessment and Development from Utah State University (2006), and MS in Technology Management from Brigham Young University (2003).

Research Interests: His work focuses on advanced manufacturing techniques like Friction Stir Welding, computational tools (CAD/CAM), production systems (Rapidprototyping, Manufacturing Systems), and operational strategies (Operations Management, Statistical Process Control). Additional interests include the History of Technology, workplace assessment methods, and interdisciplinary applications in Materials Science and Industrial Technology.

Teaching Roles: He instructs graduate and undergraduate courses in Computer-Aided Design and Manufacturing, Materials Testing, Project Management, Research Methods, Total Quality Systems, and Training Systems Management.
