Jennifer J. Wasco serves as an Assistant Professor in the Acute & Tertiary Care department at the University of Pittsburgh School of Nursing. She also holds the position of Director of Professional Development & Continuing Education and is the Accredited Program Director for ANCC NCPD Provider Unit #PO229. Dr. Wasco is a nurse educator and scholar whose work focuses on transforming nursing education through technology, innovation, and evidence-based teaching practices. Her research centers on integrating environmental health, climate change, and sustainable healthcare concepts into nursing curricula. She designs and implements forward-thinking educational strategies using simulation-based instruction, online pedagogy, and active learning methodologies to create impactful learning experiences that promote clinical competence, environmental literacy, and sustainable healthcare practices. Her scholarly publications demonstrate a strong focus on innovative teaching approaches in online nursing education, addressing challenges such as incivility in virtual classrooms, climate change education, and professional leadership development. Her work consistently emphasizes the integration of technology to enhance nursing education and prepare future nurses for evolving healthcare landscapes. Dr. Wasco teaches multiple courses including NUR 0001 – First Year Seminar, NUR 0053 – Introduction to Inclusion, Equity, and Diversity in Healthcare, NUR 0080/0081 – Foundations of Nursing Practice, and NUR 1281 – Foundations of Nursing Practice I, ABSN. She actively contributes to the nursing profession through service roles including Advisory Board Member for the Pennsylvania Action Coalition Clinical Faculty and Preceptor Academy, Nursing Continuing Professional Development Advisor for Wellcoaches®, and membership in the Association for Nursing Professional Development, the National League for Nursing, and Sigma. She previously served as co-chair of the education HUB for the Alliance of Nurses for Healthy Environments.
