Carlos Trallero is a Professor and Associate Department Head for Graduate Affairs in the Department of Physics at the University of Connecticut. He holds a Ph.D. in Physics from Stony Brook University (2007), an M.Sc. in Physics from the same institution (2004), and an M.Sc. in Nuclear Physics from the Higher Institute for Nuclear Sciences and Technology in Havana, Cuba (2001). His research focuses on attosecond science, strong field molecular spectroscopy, and ultrafast optics, with a particular emphasis on plasmonic nanoparticles, high-order harmonic generation, and coherent control. He has held academic positions at Kansas State University (2010–2017) and conducted postdoctoral research at the Steacie Institute for Molecular Sciences in Canada. His work has led to advancements in ultrafast laser technology, quantum sensing, and molecular dynamics analysis. Key contributions include studies on photoelectron emission from nanoparticles, pulse compression techniques, and the development of interferometric methods for attosecond pulse characterization. Trallero’s honors include the Lee Wilcox Prize (2007) for his experimental thesis work. His lab explores cutting-edge applications in strong-field ionization, nonlinear optics, and quantum technologies. Ongoing projects involve optimizing high-power laser systems and advancing techniques for chiral molecule analysis using 3D photoelectron momentum spectroscopy. He leads interdisciplinary collaborations in attosecond science and has secured funding from the Department of Energy for projects such as probing electron-molecule scattering via high-harmonic generation experiments. His work bridges fundamental physics with applied technologies, driving innovations in ultrafast optics and nanoscience.
