Stephanie McCalla is an Associate Professor in the Department of Chemical & Biological Engineering at Montana State University's College of Engineering. She holds affiliate status with the Montana Nanotechnology Facility (MONT) and is associated with The Graduate School. She earned her Ph.D. in Biomedical Engineering from Brown University (2012) and a B.S. in Bioengineering from the University of California, San Diego (2005). Her research focuses on microfluidics , disease diagnostics , and biomolecular separation techniques, with emphasis on RNA/DNA/protein analysis and mass transport in biological systems. These interests bridge biomedical engineering, nanotechnology, and diagnostic device development. Teaching specialties include biotransport and biomedical engineering, with courses such as EBIO 324 Bioengineering Transport , EBIO 461 Principles of Biomedical Engineering , ECHM 424 Transport Analysis , and EBIO 407 Biological Engineering Thermodynamics .
