Kathryn Campbell is a Professor at Southwestern Law School with a diverse background spanning military service, civil litigation, government policy, and public defense. She holds a B.A. in Theater Arts from Trinity College (1975) and a J.D. from the University of Detroit School of Law (1983). Her research focuses on legal pedagogy, juvenile justice, human trafficking, and community-based legal systems. She examines how language and values shape legal decision-making in contexts ranging from classroom instruction to international human rights advocacy. Publications demonstrate sustained contributions to legal education reform and child welfare policy. Her articles frequently analyze systemic challenges in juvenile justice systems and explore innovative teaching methodologies for law students. Professor Campbell serves as founding Secretary of the Southwestern Inn of Court and Board Member at SlaveFree Today, where she contributes to anti-trafficking research and policy development. Her career includes significant public service roles: Deputy Director of Michigan's Department of Human Services, Bay County Public Defender, and U.S. Navy JAG officer.
