Professor Alexander J. Hartemink holds dual appointments in the Department of Computer Science and Department of Biology at Duke University, Trinity College of Arts & Sciences. He is also a Bass Fellow in Computer Science. His research focuses on computational biology, machine learning, and systems biology, with applications to genomics, epigenomics, and transcriptional regulation. Hartemink leads the Duke Office of University Scholars and Fellows and has directed the Computational Biology and Bioinformatics graduate program. He earned a PhD from MIT (2001), MPhil from the University of Oxford (1996), and BS from Duke (1994).
