Osvaldo De Almeida is a Professor of Geriatric Psychiatry at the University of Western Australia (UWA) and holds an adjunct position in the UWA Medical School's Psychiatry department. He completed his medical training at the University of São Paulo and earned a PhD from the Institute of Psychiatry in London. His research focuses on modifiable risk factors for cognitive decline, neuropsychology, and neuroimaging of mental disorders in later life. Key awards include the Jansen Award for Schizophrenia Research (1994). He has led numerous NHMRC-funded projects totaling over A$5 million, investigating cognitive impairment, depression, and lifestyle interventions in aging populations. Education: MD from University of São Paulo (1986), PhD in Psychiatry from the Institute of Psychiatry, London (1993).
