Kevin Kit is an Associate Professor in the Department of Materials Science and Engineering at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, and Director of the Cook Grand Challenge Honors Program. He holds tenure and has been affiliated with the Tickle College of Engineering since 1996. His research focuses on polymer blends, electrospinning, and biomaterials processing. Education: BS in Materials Engineering from Virginia Tech (1990), MS and PhD in Materials Science and Engineering from the University of Delaware (1993 and 1997). Research interests include polymer crystallization, mechanical behavior of polymers, and natural fiber composites. His funded projects involve nonwoven electrospun fibers and natural composite materials. Awards include the 2014 Departmental Faculty Award for Exemplary Service and recognition by the Society of Plastics Engineers (SPE). Teaching roles include polymer science courses and developing a multidisciplinary polymer processing laboratory. Professional service includes memberships in the American Chemical Society and The Fiber Society.
