Stefano Morese is a Doctoral Researcher at the Cluster of Excellence livMatS (Freiburg Center for Interactive Materials and Bioinspired Technologies) at the University of Freiburg, actively contributing to the ThermoMetaS project focused on developing 4D printable actuator devices for thermoelectric energy harvesting from environmental heat sources. His research spans Materials Science and Engineering with emphasis on responsive metamaterials, paraffin-based actuation systems, and autonomous thermal energy conversion. This interdisciplinary work integrates microsystems engineering, chemistry, and advanced materials design to create multifunctional devices capable of reacting to temperature fluctuations without external control. His 2025 publication in Smart Materials and Structures analyzes paraffin-based actuation advancements, revealing trends toward integrated energy harvesting solutions within smart materials research. The work demonstrates cross-disciplinary convergence between thermoelectric materials, responsive systems, and additive manufacturing techniques. Supervised by Prof. Dr. Peter Woias, Morese operates within livMatS's collaborative ecosystem featuring state-of-the-art infrastructure like the IDEASfactory, which supports innovative materials research through interdisciplinary teams and specialized laboratories.
