Ying Chen is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Biomedical Engineering at Rowan University's Henry M. Rowan College of Engineering. Her research focuses on biomaterials, tissue engineering, and regenerative medicine, with specific applications in cardiovascular and musculoskeletal systems. Education includes a Ph.D. in Materials Science from University of Tsukuba, M.S. in Biomedical Engineering from Sichuan University, and postdoctoral training at Cornell University. Research spans biomaterial design, 3D-printing, and bioadhesives. Current projects include developing resorbable vascular grafts with integrated cell reservoirs and 3D-printed cardiac patches for myocardial infarction therapy. Her work consistently integrates materials science with clinical translation needs. Recent publications demonstrate strong focus on: Elastomeric biomaterials for vascular applications 3D-printable functional polyesters Nanoparticle/collagen composites for tissue regeneration Stem cell differentiation modulation using engineered scaffolds Awards include: Outstanding Reviewer for Royal Society of Chemistry (2021) Outstanding Reviewer for Journal of Materials Chemistry B (2020) Dr. Chen leads a research laboratory developing novel biomaterials and mentors students in tissue engineering projects. She maintains active collaborations through Rowan Virtua School of Translational Biomedical Engineering & Sciences.
