Raquel Sendón García is a Senior Faculty Member at the University of Santiago de Compostela, affiliated with the College of Pharmacy, the Department of Analytical Chemistry, Nutrition and Bromatology, and the Institute of Materials (iMATUS). Her work focuses on chemical safety of food contact materials, migration analysis, and sustainable reuse of food by-products. Her research group, FoodChemPack, specializes in chemical migration studies from packaging into food, analytical method development for contaminant quantification, and circular economy applications for fruit and vegetable waste. Recent work includes PFAS migration analysis, bisphenol substitutes, and bioactive compound characterization. Dr. Sendón García employs advanced techniques like GC-MS , LC-MS , and SPME for chemical profiling, contributing to regulatory frameworks and dietary exposure assessments. She leads interdisciplinary collaborations at the intersection of analytical chemistry , food safety , and polymer science . She has supervised postgraduate research on plastic packaging migrants, co-authored over 200 publications, and contributed to EU food legislation compliance studies. Her work spans active food packaging development, toxicological risk assessment , and method validation for contaminant detection.
