Scott M. Aquanno is an Assistant Professor of Political Science at Ontario Tech University and a Visiting Associate at York University's Global Labour Research Centre. His research focuses on the intersection of financial power, corporate governance, and public policy, with a particular emphasis on the historical trajectory of US financial dominance and its implications for green investment and welfare capitalism. His recent work explores technocratic authoritarianism in financial institutions, pandemic-driven policy shifts, and labor dynamics in industrial restructuring. Aquanno has contributed to journals such as Critical Sociology, New Political Science, and Studies in Political Economy, often collaborating on topics like financial risk, corporate-state relations, and urban policy. He co-founded the City Idea Lab and has held roles at the Innovation Policy Lab and Munk School of Global Affairs. His forthcoming book with Verso Press, co-authored with Dr. Stephen Maher, expands on his critical analysis of financial systems.
