Dr Lizzie Lloyd is a Senior Lecturer in the Faculty of Arts, Creative Industries and Education at the University of the West of England, Bristol. Her academic work centers on the dynamic interplay between art and writing, positioning writing as an exploratory performance within research and practice. Education PhD in Art History, University of Bristol, 2019. Research Interests Dr Lloyd's primary research areas include Art Writing , Socially Engaged Art , Participatory Art , and Embodied Art Writing . She investigates how writing functions as a critical, performative, and experimental practice that bridges theory and art-making. A recent strand of her work focuses on documenting socially engaged and participatory artworks, exemplified by the project 'Acts of Transfer', which explored visual and verbal returns to such works through exhibitions, performances, and publications. Publication Trends Her publications from 2009 to 2022 reveal a sustained engagement with art criticism, catalogue essays, and collaborative projects. Key themes across her work include the materiality of writing surfaces, the role of memory in art, and the translation of artistic experience into textual form, often within the context of contemporary art exhibitions and socially engaged practices. Advising and Funding PhD Supervision: Actively supervises PhD candidates in areas including art and writing crossovers, art history as practice, embodied art writing, autoethnographic art writing, and socially engaged practice.
