Amanda Sevilla, Ph.D. , is a Teaching Associate Professor in the Department of English at the University of Pittsburgh , where she has served since September 2023. Prior to this, she held a Visiting Lecturer position at Pitt (2021–2023). Her academic journey began with a Ph.D. in Rhetoric from Duquesne University (2018), followed by an M.A. in English (2005) and B.S. in Education (2003) from Youngstown State University. Her work integrates Sociolinguistics , TESOL , and Philosophy of Rhetoric . She is certified in Quality Matters for online instruction and holds a TESOL Graduate Certificate . Her teaching portfolio includes courses like History & Ethics in Advertising and Digital Course Design , reflecting her interest in Digital Narrative and AI & Technological Change . She has supervised numerous Public & Professional Writing (PPW) interns and directed undergraduate Directed Studies programs.
