Dr. Mauritius de Kleijn is a Visiting Fellow at the School of Business and Economics (Spatial Economics Department) at Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam. He is a researcher at SPINLab and currently pursuing a Ph.D. in GIS applications for archaeology and cultural heritage. He also serves as Medewerker (staff member) at Aeres University of Applied Sciences in Almere since August 2022. His research interests include geospatial pedagogy, digital archaeology, land use modeling, and spatial economics. Notable projects include a cross-disciplinary landscape framework (2020–2023) and studies on parking occupancy measurement using satellite imagery. His work contributes to UN Sustainable Development Goals related to cultural heritage preservation and sustainable urban development. Recent publications explore interdisciplinary education frameworks, digital heritage experiences, and geospatial methodologies in archaeology. He has presented work at international conferences and contributed to datasets on parking occupancy and archaeological studies. Supervision includes one Ph.D. thesis (name unlisted), and he collaborates extensively with institutions globally.
