Karsten Borgwardt is a Professor and Director of the Department of Machine Learning and Systems Biology at the Max Planck Institute of Biochemistry. He holds a PhD in Computer Science (2007) from LMU Munich and has held academic positions at ETH Zürich, Universität Tübingen, and the Max Planck Institutes in Tübingen. His research focuses on machine learning applications in biology and medicine, including biomarker discovery, personalized medicine, and systems biology.
