Dr. Juliana Perez Botero is an Associate Professor in the Department of Laboratory Medicine and Pathology at Mayo Clinic College of Medicine and Science in Rochester, Minnesota. She is a board-certified hematologist specializing in non-malignant hematologic disorders, with a particular focus on inherited and acquired bleeding and clotting disorders. Dr. Perez Botero received her medical degree from Universidad de los Andes in Bogota, Colombia in 2010, followed by residency training in Internal Medicine and fellowship training in Hematology and Oncology at Mayo Clinic. She is certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine in Internal Medicine, Hematology, and Medical Oncology. Her research focuses on optimization of clinical genetic diagnosis of inherited disorders of hemostasis through integration of phenotype and genotype data. She has published extensively on topics including thrombocytopenia, bleeding disorders, platelet function disorders, and coagulation disorders in pregnancy, with numerous publications appearing in high-impact journals through 2025. Dr. Perez Botero holds leadership positions in several professional organizations, including serving as Co-chair of the SSC on Genomics in Thrombosis and Haemostasis for the International Society for Thrombosis and Haemostasis, and as a member of multiple expert panels for the Clinical Genome Resource (ClinGen).
