Bernardo J. Selim

Bernardo J. Selim, M.D. is a distinguished Professor at the Mayo Clinic College of Medicine and Science, specializing in Pulmonary Medicine, Sleep Medicine, and Critical Care. He practices at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota, where he serves in the Department of Internal Medicine, Division of Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine. Dr. Selim is fluent in both English and Spanish, enhancing his ability to serve a diverse patient population.

Dr. Selim received his medical degree from Universidad Nacional de La Plata in 1998, followed by an internship at Boston VA Medical Center/Boston University School of Medicine in 2000. He completed his residency at Boston University Medical Center in 2003, then pursued dual post-doctoral fellowships at Yale University School of Medicine - Pulmonary & Critical Care Medicine in 2010 and Sleep Medicine in 2011. He is board-certified in Pulmonary Disease (2009), Critical Care Medicine (2010), and Sleep Medicine (2011) by the American Board of Internal Medicine.

His research interests focus on the pathophysiology of respiratory disorders during sleep, particularly Noninvasive Ventilation (NIV) and Home Mechanical Ventilation (HMV), chronic respiratory failure, obstructive and central sleep apneas, and nocturnal cardiac arrhythmias in sleep-disordered breathing.
