معرفی
Sritika Thapa, MD, is an Assistant Professor of Medicine in the Department of Pulmonary, Critical Care & Sleep Medicine at Yale School of Medicine. She serves as Director of Sleep Medicine Grand Rounds. Her clinical expertise spans pulmonary medicine, critical care, and sleep disorders, with a focus on non-invasive ventilators (NIV) for chronic respiratory failure and managing patients with overlapping sleep and obstructive lung diseases. She leads a specialized clinic for patients requiring home NIV (e.g., BIPAP, HMV) and works in the Yale Sleep Center addressing sleep apnea, insomnia, and movement disorders. In critical care, she specializes in mechanical ventilation transitions to reduce hospital readmissions.
Dr. Thapa’s research examines health outcomes of noninvasive ventilation in patients with obstructive lung disease and chronic respiratory failure. Her career began in Nepal, where her early exposure to snakebite-induced respiratory paralysis deepened her interest in ventilator physiology. She holds a medical degree from the Universal College of Medical Sciences in Nepal, completed her residency at Medstar Good Samaritan Hospital, and fellowships in Pulmonary & Critical Care Medicine (Medstar Georgetown University) and Sleep Medicine (Yale).
Her clinical interests include complex sleep-disordered breathing, ventilator management in outpatient settings, and translational research on respiratory failure. She emphasizes patient-centered care, ensuring thorough evaluations and transparent communication about treatment risks and benefits.
