Dr. Eleni Kaplani is an Associate Professor at the University of East Anglia's School of Engineering, Mathematics and Physics, specializing in Solar Energy and Photovoltaics. She holds a PhD in Electronic Engineering from the University of Kent and has over 15 years of research experience in solar irradiance prediction, PV degradation diagnostics, and nanotechnology-enhanced PV performance. Her roles include MSc Course Director and Associate Editor of Heliyon Energy (Elsevier). Education: PhD in Electronic Engineering (University of Kent). Previous positions include Research Associate in the INTERREG IIIA project, Senior Research Fellow at the Renewable Energy Systems Lab, and Adjunct Lecturer at the University of Peloponnese. Research Interests: Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) for PV degradation, electro-optical characterization, nanocoatings for self-cleaning/anti-reflective properties, spatiotemporal solar radiation modeling, dynamic PV performance prediction, and integration of PV in buildings/vehicles. She leads projects funded by the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (EPSRC), focusing on interdisciplinary applications of Raman Microscopy and PV system optimization. Key Projects: Addressing Interdisciplinary Challenges through Raman Microscopy (2020-2022), involving collaborations across multiple disciplines. Her work contributes to UN Sustainable Development Goals related to affordable clean energy and climate action. Labs/Teams: Active in the University of East Anglia's Sustainable Energy research group and collaborates internationally on renewable energy systems. Supervises PhD students in solar energy and photovoltaics, offering guidance on funding and project development.
