Associate Professor William McLean is affiliated with the School of Mathematics & Statistics at the University of New South Wales (UNSW), where he contributes to computational mathematics and numerical analysis. He serves as the School Records System Manager and Chair of the Computing Committee. His research focuses on computational mathematics , integral equations , and nonlocal evolution equations , with a strong emphasis on time-fractional differential equations , discontinuous Galerkin methods , and numerical stability . He has published extensively in SIAM Journal on Numerical Analysis and other leading journals. Recent work includes advancements in stochastic time-fractional diffusion , α-robust numerical schemes , and Mittag-Leffler function computation , reflecting his expertise in fractional calculus and adaptive numerical methods . He also serves on the editorial boards of SIAM Journal on Numerical Analysis and Journal of Integral Equations and Applications . For teaching, he leads courses in Computational Mathematics (MATH3101/5305) and Numerical Linear Algebra (MATH3371/5371).
