José Luis Torres Chacón is a Full Professor in the Department of Economic Theory at the Faculty of Economics and Business Sciences. His research focuses on technological change drivers, fiscal policy impacts, and competition policy models. He holds a PhD in Economics from UNED and teaches Advanced Macroeconomics and Undergraduate Macroeconomics courses. His academic career includes contributions to computational macroeconomics pedagogy, with publications like Introducción a la Macroeconomía Computacional . He has investigated productivity growth in Andalusia and explored the productivity paradox in the Spanish New Economy context. Recent work examines orbital debris' economic implications and satellite market dynamics. His research portfolio spans over 30 years, with notable studies on public debt sustainability in Greece, U.S. jet fighter technological evolution, and exchange rate target zone interventions. He directs the Experimental Lab (Smart Decision Lab) and chairs the Competition Policy Research Group, supported by grants like the THE-Motiva initiative. Teaching innovations include motivational strategies for economics students and dynamic modeling techniques integration. His work bridges theoretical contributions with policy relevance, addressing both regional development challenges and global economic issues like fiscal discipline and international labor mobility.
