Michele Back is an Associate Professor in the Department of Molecular Sciences and Nanosystems at Ca' Foscari University of Venice. He serves as Laboratory Supervisor and Responsible for Teaching and Research Activities (RDRL), with offices and laboratories located at the Scientific Campus via Torino. His research focuses on the design of luminescent inorganic materials (powders, ceramics, nanoparticles) with applications in: Contactless thermal/pressure sensors Broadband NIR LEDs Anticounterfeiting technologies Persistent luminescence materials for bio-imaging He specializes in transition and post-transition metal compounds for harsh environment applications. Publication analysis shows consistent focus on advanced optical materials, particularly: Luminescent thermometry (12+ papers) Rare-earth doped nanomaterials (10+ papers) Pressure/chirality effects in crystals (6+ papers) Core-shell nanostructures for biomedical applications (5+ papers) Awards & Recognition: JSPS Postdoctoral Fellowship (2017-2019) National Scientific Habilitation for Associate Professor (2020) Research Leadership: Principal investigator for MAECI-funded 'Indo-Italian Center of Excellence for Cultural Heritage' project (2022-2025) and 'Sea in Plastic' initiative. Supervised 10+ bachelor/master students and co-supervised PhD candidates. International Collaborations: Extensive network including Kyoto University (Japan), Helmholtz Zentrum Dresden-Rossendorf (Germany), University of Gdansk (Poland), and European Synchrotron Radiation Facility (France).
