Cady Berkel is an Associate Professor in the College of Health Solutions at Arizona State University (ASU) and affiliated faculty with ASU's REACH Institute. She holds academic appointments in Psychology and the Southwest Interdisciplinary Research Center. Her research focuses on reducing health disparities through evidence-based programs in community settings, including healthcare, schools, and court systems. Berkel's work integrates behavioral observations and machine learning to study program implementation mechanisms. She also examines risk factors like discrimination and resilience mechanisms such as cultural values and racial socialization. Education: Earned a B.A. in Psychology from George Washington University (1998), a Ph.D. in Child and Family Development from the University of Georgia (2006), and postdoctoral training at the CDC and ASU. She has held postbaccalaureate and fellowship positions at the National Institute of Child Health and Human Development. Research Interests: Health equity, cultural competence, preventive interventions, program implementation, and family-based strategies for addressing disparities in substance use, mental health, HIV, and obesity. Her work emphasizes culturally tailored approaches for African American and Latino populations.
