Ross A. Hammond is a Senior Fellow and Director of the Center on Social Dynamics and Policy at the Brookings Institution, with academic appointments at Harvard School of Public Health, the Santa Fe Institute, and the Brown School at Washington University in St. Louis. His work bridges computational modeling and policy analysis to address pressing public health and socioeconomic challenges. Education: B.A. from Williams College, Ph.D. from the University of Michigan Hammond’s research focuses on public health policy , behavioral epidemiology , and computational modeling , particularly in areas such as obesity prevention , tobacco control , food systems , and social norm dynamics . He has also explored the application of agent-based models in pandemic response and AI regulation . His publications highlight interdisciplinary trends at the intersection of computational methods and real-world policy, including studies on childhood physical activity, health disparities, and AI integration. Awards include the Okun-Model Fellowship in Economics and NSF Fellowship during his academic training.
