Dr. Edward Cyr is an Assistant Professor - Teaching Stream in the Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering at Carleton University. He holds a BASc and PhD from the University of Waterloo, with postdoctoral research at the University of New Brunswick as a McCain Postdoctoral Fellow in Innovation. His research focuses on additive manufacturing techniques for aerospace and marine industries, computational modeling of additively manufactured metals, and plasticity of aluminum alloys. He has directed programs at the Marine Additive Manufacturing Centre of Excellence and has expertise in computational mechanics, including parallel computation and microstructure modeling. Dr. Cyr is also passionate about teaching, having taught courses like Engineering Mechanics and Numerical Methods, and has been recognized for his teaching excellence. He currently teaches at Carleton, emphasizing engineering design and finite element analysis.
