Anming Hu is an Associate Professor in the Department of Mechanical, Aerospace and Biomedical Engineering at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville (UTK), where he has served since August 2019. Previously, he held positions as an Assistant Professor (2013-2019) and Research Assistant Professor (2009-2013) at UTK and the University of Waterloo. His research focuses on nanomanufacturing, laser processing, 3D microprinting, nanojoining, and nanotechnology applications in energy and environmental systems. He holds two PhDs: one in Laser Physics (2008, University of Waterloo) and another in Condensed Matter Physics (1997, Chinese Academy of Sciences).

Research Interests: Dr. Hu’s work spans cutting-edge nanotechnology and laser-based manufacturing. His innovations in femtosecond laser processing and nanojoining have advanced applications in electronics, batteries, and medical devices. Recent projects highlight breakthroughs in aluminum-air batteries and plasmonic nanostructures for SERS analysis.
