Joshua Reiman is an Associate Professor and Gary Ambrose Sculpture Program Chair at the Maine College of Art & Design. He holds an MFA from Syracuse University and a BFA from the Kansas City Art Institute. His work spans sculpture, film, video, and interdisciplinary projects, emphasizing spatial practices and neospatial theory. Reiman’s research explores themes like mortality, environmental consciousness, and cultural conflict, often blending materiality with conceptual depth. He is the author of *Strange Devices*, a seminal text on contemporary sculpture practices. Reiman’s exhibitions include institutions such as Bildmuseet (Sweden), Reykjavik Art Museum (Iceland), and the Albright-Knox Art Gallery (USA). His films and installations have addressed topics ranging from oceanic longevity to energy extraction’s ecological impact. As an educator, he advocates for transdisciplinary learning, fostering inclusive studio environments and critical dialogue. His teaching philosophy integrates historical context with practical skills, emphasizing community engagement and diverse perspectives. Reiman’s work often incorporates found objects, public collaboration, and interdisciplinary methods.
