Zsolt Nyiri is an Associate Professor of Political Science and Law at Montclair State University's College of Humanities and Social Sciences. He holds a Ph.D. from the University of Connecticut, along with advanced degrees from Bowling Green State University, the University of Budapest, and Central European University. Prior to his academic role, he served as Director of the Gallup World Poll in Europe and Director of Transatlantic Trends at the German Marshall Fund of the United States.
Dr. Nyiri’s research focuses on European politics, transatlantic relations, public diplomacy, and methodologies for polling hard-to-reach populations. His innovative work includes developing polling techniques for Muslim communities in Europe and U.S./European decision-makers. He co-created a groundbreaking joint-classroom initiative with the U.S. Department of State, fostering transatlantic dialogue through education.
Key research projects include analyzing European public opinion toward the U.S. and China, corruption’s impact on institutional trust, and the role of public opinion in policy-making. He has authored works on comparative politics frameworks, transatlantic governance, and integration challenges for minority groups.
Professional affiliations include membership in the European Science Foundation’s COST panel and contributions to outlets like Political Research Quarterly and Routledge. His interdisciplinary approach bridges political theory, methodology, and real-world policy analysis.
