Zoran M. Vujcic

Zoran M. Vujcic is a Full Professor at the University of Belgrade's Faculty of Chemistry, Department of Biochemistry. He holds a Ph.D. in Chemistry from the same institution and has been employed there since 1989, progressing through roles from graduate assistant to his current rank. His research focuses on enzyme production, biocatalysis, and environmental biotechnology, particularly in wastewater treatment and bioethanol production. He has led several national and international projects, including EU-funded initiatives, and has been recognized with Serbia's 2010 Best Technological Innovation award.

Education:

• 1979-1987: BSc in Chemistry, University of Belgrade
• 1987-1992: MSc in Chemistry, Faculty of Chemistry, Belgrade
• 1992-1997: PhD in Chemistry, Faculty of Chemistry, Belgrade

Research interests span biotechnological applications of enzymes, including recombinant proteins, enzyme immobilization, and bioremediation. Key areas include invertase utilization, laccase-based wastewater treatment, and enzymatic processes for biofuel production. He has developed novel methods for enzyme detection and biocatalyst design.

Notable achievements include over 50 peer-reviewed publications and leadership in 6 major research projects. His work bridges fundamental biochemistry with industrial applications, emphasizing sustainable technologies.

Labs/Teams: Active in the Faculty's Biochemistry Department and collaborates internationally through COST Action networks and EU projects.
