Zoi Dellios

Zoi Dellios is a Lecturer at the Chair of Teaching, Learning and Development within the School of Education at the University of Applied Sciences and Arts Northwestern Switzerland (FHNW). Since 2013 she has combined lecturing duties at FHNW with guest lecturing at the University of Zurich’s Chair of Educational Psychology and Didactics.

Research Interests:
Dr. Dellios focuses on Educational Psychology and Didactics, especially the intersection of motivation, emotion and learning. She investigates personalised learning concepts in heterogeneous classrooms, parental support during school transitions, and quality development in primary and secondary education. Her work often employs video-based classroom observation and microgenetic interview analysis to understand how task culture and family interactions shape student learning.

Across her publications, a clear trend emerges: combining rigorous psychological theory with practical classroom and family contexts to improve learning outcomes. Studies range from detailed video analyses of task design to large-scale reports on competency-based assessment in cantonal schools.

Scientific Contributions:

• Principal author of a 2015 case study on learning and task culture in primary schools.
• Co-author of the 2013 Competency-based Certificates research report commissioned by the Zurich Department of Education.
• Multiple contributions to the TRANSITION study series examining parental motivational support during the move to lower-secondary education.

Advising & Grants:
While specific doctoral advisees are not listed, Dellios has served as project assistant and collaborator on several funded research projects led by Prof. Dr. Kurt Reusser at the University of Zurich.
