Dr. Zoe Mildon is an Associate Professor in Earth Sciences at the University of Plymouth's School of Geography, Earth and Environmental Sciences. Her research focuses on tectonics, active faulting, and earthquakes, particularly earthquake dynamics and interaction. She is the principal investigator for the UKRI-funded Quake4D project, developing physics-based models to investigate earthquake interaction and seismic hazard through advanced computer simulations.
Her work examines how geological complexity influences fault behavior and earthquake generation, with field studies in Italy, Japan, Pakistan, and China. Dr. Mildon actively promotes diversity in geoscience through initiatives like Girls into Geoscience and serves as a role model for female scientists.
She currently supervises PhD student Manuel Diercks on fault interaction in Western Turkey. Dr. Mildon holds a PhD from University College London and a Natural Sciences degree from the University of Cambridge.
