She holds affiliations with WISER (Wits Institute for Social and Economic Research) at the University of the Witwatersrand as a Research Associate. Her research focuses on social and cultural history in Malawi, Zimbabwe, and South Africa, emphasizing migration, urbanization, and popular culture during the 19th and 20th centuries. She also explores broader themes of diasporas and citizenship in colonial and postcolonial contexts.
Dr. Groves earned a BA in International History and Philosophy (2004), MRes (2006), and PhD (2011) from Keele University. Prior roles include a postdoctoral fellowship at WISER (2011–2013) and Lecturer in African History at the University of Cambridge (2013–2017). She has also held affiliations with Chancellor College, University of Malawi, and the University of Zimbabwe's History Department.
Her work bridges regional African studies with global migration patterns, examining how colonial legacies shape contemporary social dynamics. Though no specific publications are listed here, her research trends reflect interdisciplinary engagement with transnational histories and grassroots cultural movements.
