Dr Zoe Gallant is a Lecturer (Teaching) in Psychology at University College London's Institute of Education (IOE), specifically within the Psychology and Human Development department. She also holds several leadership positions including Academic Head of Inclusion (since January 2022), Head of Year 1 for the BSc Psychology with Education program (since September 2023), and PGTA Lead (since June 2024).
Dr Gallant earned her academic credentials from the University of Sheffield, completing a BSc (Hons) in Psychology, MSc in Psychological Research Methods, and PhD in Cognitive Neuroscience. Prior to joining UCL in 2021, she served as a Teaching Fellow in the School of Neuroscience at King's College London, and held various academic positions at Birkbeck, University of London, University of Roehampton, and Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance.
Her research spans multiple domains with primary interests in:
- The role of the cerebellum in cognition
- Ageing and cognitive neuroscience
- Evaluating educational interventions in Higher Education
- Equity, Diversity and Inclusion practices
- Neurosciences and cognitive psychology
Dr Gallant's scholarly work demonstrates a strong commitment to both cognitive neuroscience and educational psychology, with recent publications addressing educational responses to social issues, cerebellar function in older adults, and medical imaging research. Her work bridges the gap between cognitive neuroscience and practical educational applications, particularly in the areas of feedback literacy, understanding marking criteria, student wellbeing, and diversity and inclusion.

Dr Gallant actively supervises multiple doctoral students across various programs. Her current PhD students include Ariane Zandi (researching music conservatoires) and Emma-Louise Nelson (studying EDI in music education). She also supervises DEdPsy students Mollie Georgiou and Leeza Ahmed, focusing on restorative practices in schools and sense of belonging for South Asian girls, respectively. She has successfully supervised students to completion, including Ingrid Tamuyeye's work on dementia disclosure experiences and Christopher Quinton's research on school-based mindfulness programs.
Within her department, Dr Gallant leads several modules including Brain and Behaviour (second year undergraduate), Psychology and Neuroscience in Education (third year undergraduate), Social and Individual Development (taught postgraduate), and Research and Analytical Methods in Psychology (taught postgraduate).
