Ziv Kozukro

Prof. Ziv Kozukro serves as Professor and Head of the Music Division in the Department of Arts at Ben-Gurion University of the Negev within the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences. He concurrently holds the position of house composer for the Israel Symphony Orchestra in Rishon LeZion and previously served as house conductor of the Israel Sinfonietta in Be'er Sheva for five years.

His academic journey includes BA and MA degrees in composition and conducting from the Jerusalem Academy of Music and Dance, followed by a PhD in composition from Bar-Ilan University. Prior to his current appointment, he was a senior faculty member and Head of the Composition and Conducting Department at the Jerusalem Academy of Music and Dance.

Prof. Kozukro's research centers on musical creation as an investigative process, focusing on dramatic development across musical timelines, intersections between acoustic and electronic elements, and connections between musical content and social-humanistic themes. His compositions have been performed internationally at venues including Berlin's Concertgebouw, Vienna's Schoenberg Center, and New York's Lincoln Center, with particular emphasis on achieving structural balance between uniformity/diversity, static/dynamic elements, and symmetry/asymmetry.

He maintains extensive industry collaborations as a conductor, arranger, and producer with prominent Israeli artists including Shlomo Artzi, David Broza, Rita, Yoni Rechter, and Shlomo Gronich. His creative philosophy asserts that successful artistic expression fundamentally relies on intention, directionality, and clear processes anchored by critical balance across all structural elements.
