Their work primarily focuses on aging, dementia, and public health, contributing significantly to global Sustainable Development Goals in health and well-being.
Research Interests: Dr. Wu’s research spans epidemiology, neurology, geriatrics, and biostatistics. They investigate the links between cardiometabolic health, body composition, and cognitive decline in older adults. Their work often leverages large longitudinal datasets, such as the ASPREE Healthy Ageing Biobank, to explore early biomarkers and risk trajectories for dementia and Alzheimer’s disease.
Recent publications show a strong trend in understanding preclinical dementia markers, causal inference methods in aging research, and the impact of lifestyle and metabolic factors on brain health. Their studies frequently appear in top-tier journals including JAMA Network Open and The Lancet Healthy Longevity.
Scientific Engagement: Dr. Wu has been featured in numerous media outlets such as ABC, Herald Sun, and Daily Mail for their research on belly fat and weight loss as early warning signs of dementia. They actively participate in academic events, serving as session chair and programme committee member for conferences at Monash. Additionally, they contribute editorially as a guest editor for Frontiers in Pharmacology.
Collaborative and Professional Activities: Engaged in national and international research networks, Dr. Wu collaborates with experts in neurology, geriatrics, and biostatistics. Their role in organizing early-career researcher symposia highlights their involvement in academic community building.
