Zihui Zhao

Zihui Zhao is an Assistant Professor (tenure-track) at the Department of Mathematics, Johns Hopkins University since 2023. She holds a PhD from the University of Washington (2018), advised by Prof. Tatiana Toro, and completed postdoctoral work as an NSF Postdoc and L.E. Dickson Instructor at the University of Chicago (2019–2023). Her research focuses on the intersection of Geometric Measure Theory, Harmonic Analysis, PDEs, and Geometric Analysis, particularly addressing regularity problems of elliptic PDEs and minimal submanifolds.

Research Interests: Her work explores regularity of area-minimizing currents, unique continuation properties, elliptic measures, and free boundary problems. She applies tools from geometric measure theory and harmonic analysis to study boundary behavior of solutions to PDEs.

Teaching: Includes Honors Calculus and courses on differential equations at both Johns Hopkins and the University of Washington.

Professional Activities: Co-organized sessions on PDEs and geometric measure theory, participated in workshops at MSRI, Oberwolfach, and the Hausdorff Institute. Active in mentoring and reviewing for journals.

Labs/Teams: Collaborates extensively with researchers like Carlos Kenig, Tatiana Toro, and Svitlana Mayboroda on projects funded by the Simons Foundation and NSF.
