Ziad Labbad is a Professor at Temple University School of Podiatric Medicine (TUSPM) within the Department of Podiatry. His clinical practice focuses on foot and ankle medicine with specialization in sports medicine and regenerative medicine. Affiliated with the Foot and Ankle Institute (FAI TUSPM) in Philadelphia, he maintains an active role in clinical education and patient care.
His research spans regenerative therapies including stem cell applications, shockwave therapy, and PRP treatments. Key areas include diabetic wound healing, biomechanics, and vascular disorders in podiatric medicine. Labbad has pioneered case studies on EPAT for plantar plate tears and subtalar arthritis, emphasizing non-surgical interventions.
Publications reveal strong trends in sports medicine case reports (2016-2020) and vascular disorder research. His work frequently addresses diabetic foot complications, compartment syndrome, and innovative wound care techniques, reflecting practical clinical applications over theoretical research.
Scientific recognition includes:
- First Place Winner in Outstanding Poster Abstract at 2018 APMA Annual Scientific Meeting
Labbad actively contributes to academic infrastructure through textbook authorship, notably editing vascular disorder sections in the Compendium of Podiatric Medicine and Surgery (2009-2016 editions) and co-authoring the AACPM Curricular Guide (2018). His biomechanics manual for TUSPM supports foundational podiatric education.
Early career research (1993-1996) focused on diabetes-induced wound healing mechanisms, examining growth factors and collagenase activity in diabetic models. Current work bridges regenerative medicine with practical podiatric applications through clinical case studies and therapeutic innovations.
