Zhiyu Zhang is a Szegö Assistant Professor in the Department of Mathematics at Stanford University. He earned his PhD from Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 2022 and held a postdoctoral position at the Mathematical Sciences Research Institute (MSRI) post-graduation. His research focuses on number theory, arithmetic geometry, and automorphic forms.

His work explores the intersection of number theory and arithmetic geometry, particularly modularity of arithmetic theta series and geometry of local-global Shimura varieties. His dissertation investigated arithmetic transfers at parahoric levels.
