معرفی
Dr. Zhiming Shi is a Research Fellow at the School of Mechanical & Mining Engineering, University of Queensland, affiliated with the Julius Kruttschnitt Mineral Research Centre within the Faculty of Engineering, Architecture and Information Technology. With over 112 publications including 88 journal articles, 6 book chapters, and 15 conference papers, his research has significantly advanced the field of corrosion science, particularly regarding magnesium alloys and biodegradable metals.
Dr. Shi earned his PhD from the University of Queensland in 2005 with a thesis titled 'The corrosion performance of anodised magnesium alloys.' His research interests focus on corrosion mechanisms of magnesium alloys, hydrogen embrittlement in advanced steels, biodegradable metals for biomedical applications, and magnesium-based battery technologies. His work bridges fundamental materials science with practical applications in biomedical implants and energy storage systems.
Analysis of Dr. Shi's recent publications reveals a strong focus on understanding corrosion mechanisms in physiological environments for biomedical applications, developing high-performance magnesium alloys for battery anodes, and investigating hydrogen embrittlement in advanced steel alloys. His research demonstrates consistent contributions to both fundamental corrosion science and practical engineering applications, with particular emphasis on how microstructure, alloying elements, and environmental conditions affect material degradation.
- Active researcher with publications spanning from 2003 to 2025
- Extensive collaboration network, particularly with Professor Andrej Atrens
- Significant contributions to understanding magnesium corrosion mechanisms
- Research with applications in biomedical implants and energy storage
Dr. Shi serves as an associate advisor for PhD students, having supervised work on refractory medium entropy alloys and microbially influenced corrosion. His research has practical implications for developing better biodegradable implants and more efficient magnesium-air batteries. He is currently available for supervision of research students interested in materials engineering, particularly corrosion science and biodegradable metals.
